We no longer homeschool, and of course, that could change. We do have the 4-year old at home. He does not attend preschool like the older two did, but he will go to Kindergarten next year in the public school. However, homeschooling is a wonderful option for parents who can do it and I’ll be glad to pass along any info I have on it for you. The following was written when we were still in our year of homeschooling.
Are you a homeschooler? Are you thinking of becoming one? Or, are you simply curious about it? Well, I can tell you that when my first munchie was born, I was so anti-homeschool. I thought the whole notion of not putting her in school was sacrilege! So, she went to school for Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade. My second munchie went to Kindergarten in public school as well. That was the last time any of my kids attended any school, and that was the school year of 2011-2012. Pulling them out of school was a very, very hard decision and one that homeschooling parents do struggle with. Our reasons were aplenty, though, and they ranged from wanting more time together to not liking what was being taught or how they were being influenced at school. Since they’ve been homeschooled, they’ve done wonderfully. They’re very actively involved with a lot of different groups and activities and they have so much more time to play with one another as well. In any event, if you think you want to homeschool, it can be an enormous task to try and figure out which curriculum works for your child and what co-op to join and how to find the homeschool only events out there. Hopefully this is the page that can help you. Post a comment/question and help each other out. 🙂
